Florencio Mata graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1975 with a BS in Geophysics/Geology, and has completed graduate work in Petroleum Engineering.
With over 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, Mr. Mata began his career with Amerada Petroleum Corporation in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He held various management positions with Santa Fe Energy Company in Amarillo, Texas, most of which entailed exploration.
In 1981, Mr. Mata became Vice President of Operations with Hosking Geophysical, overseeing all of the firm’s geophysical processing and consulting business. He then served as as Vice President of Exploration for Federated Natural Resources in Traverse City, Michigan, from 1984 to 1990.
Flo Mata founded Mata Exploration and Olympic Oil and Gas in Houston, Texas, between 1991 and 1997, successfully developing a number of international exploration plays in South America, Africa, India, and Southwest Asia.
From 1998 until 2003, Mr. Mata co-owned Caldwell Energy Company in Louisville, Kentucky, developing inlet air cooling technologies for the power industry, domestically and abroad.
Since 2006, Mr. Mata has assisted Kelcas Corporation overseeing various stages of exploration, including drilling, testing, and completion. He concurrently partners with Ohio Kentucky Oil Corporation (OKOC), and has directed exploration and production activities in the Mid-Continent and several Appalachian basins. Mr. Mata continues to serve as president of Mata Exploration and GeoTrend Exploration, both based in The Woodlands, Texas, actively generating exploration and production plays in the Barnett, Fayetteville, and New Albany shale plays.
Mr. Mata is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and Society of Exploration Geophysicists.
